Why Hold Events at Hotels?

Why Hold Events at Hotels?

January 03, 2010 – Kevin Kong

Hotels are widely perceived as expensive and a bit too grandiose. That is why many people's faces contort when they are informed that a certain event they want to attend is going to be held at that posh hotel uptown.

That, of course, is unwarranted concern. Hotels' events venues are prime spots for meetings, conferences, and dances because they afford not only a luxurious name and place to put on the invitations and posters, but they also provide many other good stuff-from food to the facilities to the kind of security that is otherwise hard to come by when it comes to other locations.

That said, here are some of the top reasons why organizers prefer hotels compared to traditional events venues like clubs, basketball stadiums, or a university's own quadrangle.

Convenient Location

Hotels, as we all know, are located at strategic areas that are very much accessible and with many other establishments in the vicinity.

This is even more beneficial for conferences and summits that stretch on for a few days or even a week or two. This allows people involved in the event to go out and have some variety by exploring the surrounding area's restaurants, libraries, parks, malls, and whatever else there is. Compared to being stuck within their hotel room's four walls, there is excitement to be had by wandering outside. Unlike other long-term venues, hotels provide this opportunity because of their strategic location.

Packaged Deals

Often, booking the meeting rooms, conference halls, and ballrooms of hotels come with packaged deals. An example of this is free use of any media-related hardware such as sound systems and projectors for presentations and videos. Rent of such necessities are not cheap, so getting them free in a package will make the room rates more worth it.

Another good example is a packaged meal courtesy of the hotel, or discounted prices for a set of x-course meals that can be served at the event. For this purpose, people should research on and seek out those hotels that have proven outstanding in-house catering services.

Security

Events, especially for dances and parties that involve many people, require adequate security. That could be an additional hassle for the organizers, as they either have to request for police coverage or hire their own security staff. By booking at hotels, organizers can make use of the hotel's own security guards at the gate along with the added bonus of having closed-circuit television surrounding the venue.

Amenities

After the party or the meeting is over, the participants and attendees can book their own rooms-hopefully covered by the organizers, unless they want to pay out of their own pockets. They can also enjoy every other amenity and facility in the hotel, from the nice views to the swimming pools and rooftop decks.

Those are just four reasons, and there are many others. Given all of that, the next time you see an event being held at a hotel, do not fret. Simply expect to have a great time-knowing that you get great value for money, thanks to a winning combination that only hotels can give. Just try it, and you will see all of the things in store for you and all the other attendees.
